New Godzilla Minus Zero Trailer Teases Clash With Another Iconic Titan
The latest trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Godzilla Minus One that arrived in 2023, teases an epic clash between the king of the monsters and another familiar enemy. Godzilla Minus Zero will be the first ever Japanese movie filmed for IMAX when it releases this November.
Set a couple of years after the events of Minus One, Godzilla Minus Zero follows characters from the first film as they wrestle with the fact that they failed to kill Godzilla the first time. Now, the radioactive lizard is seemingly stomping towards New York, but there’s other forces at play. During the trailer, a familiar roar is heard off-screen that’s definitely not Godzilla’s. One character remarks, “Don’t worry, this isn’t Godzilla we’re talking about.” If you don’t want to be spoiled, stop reading from this point onwards.
Fans quickly put together the pieces and discovered that roar belonged to King Ghidorah, one of Godzilla’s greatest, iconic adversaries. This also makes certain scenes in the trailer make more sense, such as Godzilla falling from the sky and roaring at what appears to be another creature off-screen. Toho hasn’t outright revealed if King Ghidorah will be involved, and it’s certainly trying to keep this a secret in the marketing, but it looks like it’s paying off because it has the community talking.
King Ghidorah’s origins goes back decades but his biggest exposure to audiences came in 2017’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. However, director Takashi Yamazaki will probably take the monster in a different direction and we can’t wait to see what’s in store.
There’s a lot of hype building for Godzilla Minus Zero, especially since Minus One left a lasting impression. It even became the first Godzilla film to ever win an Academy Award.
Godzilla Minus Zero arrives in theatres on 6 November 2026. Watch the latest trailer below:
