Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT Casts Bill Skarsgard in Lead Role Alongside Don Lee
Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage game, PHYSINT, is making headlines again, this time after the auteur game creator announced the first batch of cast members for the game including Bill Skarsgard, Don Lee and more. Recently, Kojima Productions parted ways with PlayStation after Kojima revealed Sony tried to cancel the game in mid-June. However, Xbox swiftly picked up the project.
Bill Skarsgard is an actor famous for playing Pennywise the Clown in the IT movies, Count Orlok in 2024’s Nosferatu, and Marquis in John Wick: Chapter 4. Skarsgard will play the lead role in Kojima’s PHYSINT alongside popular Korean actor Don Lee, Furiosa actress Charlee Fraser, and Japanese actress Minami Hamabe best known for Godzilla Minus One.
Kojima said on the recent casting announcement:
“I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for PHYSINT will be Bill Skarsgård. We are both long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together. The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and Charlee earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project.”
Kojima is no stranger to casting big-name Hollywood actors in his projects. The Death Stranding series starred familiar actors like Norman Reedus, Elle Fanning, Lea Seydoux, and Mads Mikkelsen, among others.
PHYSINT will also mark a return to the action-espionage genre that Kojima played a pivotal role in defining with the Metal Gear Solid franchise. So far, Xbox has partnered to publish both PHYSINT and another original horror game, OD (Overdose), from Kojima Productions in collaboration with filmmaker Jordan Peele. It will also feature actors like Hunter Schafer, Udo Kier and Sophia Lillis. It will see Kojima return to the horror genre following 2014’s P.T. and the unfortunate cancellation of Silent Hills while working with Konami.
Kojima says more casting news will roll out soon for PHYSINT so we can expect more big names to grace the game.
