While we knew CD Projekt Red was going to debut its Songs of the Past expansion pack for The Witcher 3 at Gamescom, we didn’t know the original game would also get a remaster. Well, we are now getting The Witcher 3 Remastered and it is arriving in just about a month’s time.

CDPR has done quite a lot to the original game to beef it up for current-generation hardware. Of course, if you’re on PC you can likely just mod the game to include all these cool new additions, but the fact that we’re getting a free remastered update is great.



The Witcher 3 Remastered is launching on 29 September for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. It will be a free upgrade for all owners of the game. Whether you own the original PS4 and Xbox One disc version, or digital versions of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. You’ll get the upgrade.

PC digital versions will also get upgraded across all storefronts including GOG, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

In addition to the free upgrade, both existing expansions will be released for free for the game. So Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine will be available for all players as free DLC.

In terms of upgrades, The Witcher 3 Remastered comes with a number of new additions that span consoles and PC. These changes include some of the following updates:

At the moment, we don’t know what exactly is coming to what platforms, but you can kind of guess by the changes where you’ll land depending on what platform you’ll play on.

CD Projekt Red says its third and final content drop for The Witcher 3, the Songs of the Past expansion, is expected to launch sometime in 2027.
